Studio Update: Week of 2/9- 2/15
This week was mainly filled with last minute preparations for the sale. It snowed again on Tuesday which kind of threw off the schedule for the week as far as inventory check and last minute touches went. I met up with Emma on Wednesday morning to start checking inventory. We priced and labeled everything accordingly into our binder, leaving the last little bit for Thursday before class since I had to work. On Thursday, we finished up inventory and then loaded things up for the sale at Canary club. Grace and Emma went to start set up while Hailey and I went to get flowers for the vases. The night started off a little stressful as the square card readers were not working. We eventually just started taking manual card payments. The sale went decent and I got to share a bottle of wine with Hailey, similar to last year's. Friday was Valentines day so I spent the first part of the day celebrating Hailey's birthday! We went to a cute little diner in Louisville and then walked around some cute little shops on Barrett Avenue. I think often of how grateful I am for my studio people, and how influential they have all become in my life.
Making work for my art practice continues to be off to a slow start. It seems there is so much to do in the week yet somehow I keep not having time to create. It's frustrating and disappointing, and its leaving me with a very low drive to create at all. I just want to do nothing. Objectively looking back at the past two months, I have accomplished a lot, just in ways that are different than actually creating new work. Molly and I installed and finished up work for our show, held a reception, created work for this Canary Sale and had this sale all with a very quick turn around. I guess I need to lower my expectations of what I can accomplish while also working 5 days a week. I don't really have any pictures to show from this week, I kind of just locked in to get all the tasks done without thinking of the blog at all. So just use your creative little brain to picture us all crowded around a cute little ceramics table in a bar, selling work.
