Studio Update: Week of 12/9-12/13
This week was all gears ahead for the Dinner Party prep. I was pushing it really down to the wire as far as timing was going. I bisqued on Monday, unloaded Tuesday once it cooled around 8pm. I glazed in the studio until about 2:30am and loaded the glaze kiln. I worked at 5am the next day, RIP. On Thursday I unloaded the kiln at about 2pm for my dinner party at 6pm. I had a slight heart attack moment when the kiln errored out but luckily it got mostly to temp so everything was still usable. I decorated the apartment on Wednesday evening and Thursday was spent with no seconds to spare. I cooked 2 pies, and chimichurri corn and black bean tacos to serve to 14 people. I got stuff for everyone to make mules and mocktails if they were NA. The dinner party dress code was formal camp. I think everyone had so much fun and it was so interesting to compare this dinner party to the one I hosted last year. For starters, last year only had 4 people. This year required very little staging! We all just ate and had fun, and the photographer captured everything while we naturally moved through the evening. I am so excited to see how the photos turn out.
