Studio Update. Week of 2/23- 3/1

This week I spent the first half of the week finishing the surface decorations on the piece that I started the previous week. About mid week, I started working on a new piece. I wanted to make a cake stand for my next dinner party. I thought this would be a fun and usable size to play around with some of the same forms and ideas as some of my bigger pieces but on a more palatable scale. I decided for my first cake stand, that I wanted it to be a mega man eater themed one. Working next to Jooby has brought fun little feet forms to the top of my brain and I feel like this would be a good opportunity to elevate a piece using little feet. As always with my sculptures, I start by blocking out the shapes on cardboard to get templates for my slabs.
