Studio update Week of 2/16- 2/22

This week I worked on finishing up a sculpture that I had started the week before. I wanted to try my hand at a wall hanging piece. I have been thinking more and more about my dinner parties and I want to make them as immersive of experiences as possible so having some ceramic pieces to hang on the wall felt like a step in the right direction. I think the leftover feelings of valentines day and "romance" season within corporate America may have influenced me a little because this wall piece is inspired by a little joke my Partner and I had when we first started dating about matching therapy couches. It is not uncommon for phrases or iconography stemming from things people have said to me to make their way into my work. They get stuck in my brain and produced over and over in different variations until I am able to move on. Right now its images of comfort and love. Therapy couches, Orange flowers, and cats causing chaos have been some of the top iconography for me as of late. I have been feeling pretty unmotivated in the studio, I think the exhaustion from the show Molly and I have put on has really depleted my energy levels. I drew some tarrot this week and a friendly fortune cookie gave me some hope for higher energy levels to come. ( I am writing this post months later and I can confirm that higher energy levels did not come).
