Studio Update: Week of 10/13- 10/19/24
My main goal this week was to finish decorating my plates for my upcoming show with Molly. I spent the early part of the week laying down color and wax. I started re-watching stranger things as I went to town on carving the designs. On Monday night we had a studio make-a-thon to make some things for our upcoming dirtbags sale. We slip-casted some things, ordered a pizza, and watched over the garden wall. It was very cozy. On Tuesday I glazed my big planter that I made for my tattoo artist and mixed up some glaze tests for a good cone 6 liner glaze. On Wednesday Molly and I had our in progress critiques and I think they went really well! We have been somewhat secretive about the message behind our upcoming show but we are both very excited about it. Jooby mentioned that my work is feminine and soft, but also bold and powerful... and VERY brat(charlie xcx coded). It was super kind of them to say and I have been thinking about my work through that lense ever since. On Friday I unloaded the glaze kiln and learned that my planter decided to just crack right in half ( rude!!!!). This planter was getting traded on Saturday so I had to come up with a solution quick. I ended up epoxying it back together with PC11, and I covered the seam with some palmer clay embellishments. I think it turned out stunning! Friday night we ended up having a bit of an impromptu make-a-thon. Kade, Haley and I were all in the studio working on things so we sat in the main studio and put the new Sabrina Carpenter album on the projector. It was an eventful week. Things are turning around a bit for me in my personal life and I am hoping to get back on a more stable and secure schedule soon.
